5 Expenses You’re Probably Forgetting
In Your September Budget
There are some of you out there who have just been waiting for this time of year.
Summer is finally saying goodbye, leaves are changing, and it’s time to break out the boots and scarves – hallelujah!
But in spite of the wonderful season, Pumpkin Spice Latte’s, and the kids back in school, you cannot slack on your September budget. Just like every other month, September has it’s fair share of expenses that you don’t see in any other month.
And I want you to be aware of them.
Labor Day Weekend
Yes, I know Labor Day isn’t until September, but it’s the first weekend in September, which sometimes turns into a long weekend starting in July. Regardless, I don’t want you to be surprised by the cost of celebrating Labor Day. Save some money in August so you can have a relaxing, fun (read: no money stress) with the family.
Summer Clearance Stock-Up
Stores will be starting to clearance out summer wear like shorts, tank tops, swimwear, and sandals. Wait for a coupon, then shop the clearance racks for next summer by estimating your child’s size next summer and get a head start on their clothes and your budget.
Christmas Sinking Fund
It’s August, which means we’re more than halfway to Christmas. If you haven’t started yet, create a sinking fund for Christmas. Then, watch for Christmas Deals so you can shop the best prices on gifts for everyone between now and December 25th.
Air Conditioner & Heater Maintenance
It may still be warm, but cooler weather is coming, which means you’ll need to schedule routine maintenance on your air conditioner as it winds down from working all summer, as well as for your heater so it can be at it’s best during the winter.
Halloween and Fall Decorations
Aren’t you just loving the Mums and pumpkins that are starting to pop up in stores? If you like to deck out the exterior of your home to reflect the changing seasons make sure to include a line for the decorations in your budget – they don’t come cheap!
The fall month’s budgets can be challenging after you’ve weathered those back-to-school expenses, and aren’t quite ready for the holidays yet, but don’t neglect your budget!
What other expenses will you add to your September budget?
